Appliances
Green Guy Recycling accepts all types of appliances in our drop-off center such as washers, dryers, water heaters, lawn mowers, and much more. Most appliances are eligible for payment once the 150 minimum weight requirement is met, but donations are always welcome, too.
Large freon- bearing appliances
Large appliances such as full size refrigerators, central air conditioners, and deep freezers are accepted for a $10 fee. This fee is necessary for our EPA certified technician to responsibly recover the refrigerant that is harmful to our environment. Fees are waived for San Marcos residents who pay for recycling services through their City of San Marcos Utility Bill. This bill must reflect the “Recycle Center Services” charge and be presented during our hours of operation. Fees are also waived for donated appliances.

Small appliances such as window unit air conditioners and mini-fridges are accepted for a $5 fee. This fee is necessary for our EPA certified technician to responsibly recover the refrigerant that is harmful to our environment. Fees are waived for San Marcos residents who pay for recycling services through their City of San Marcos Utility Bill. This bill must reflect the “Recycle Center Services” charge and be presented during our hours of operation. Fees are also waived for donated appliances.
Certain fees are waived for San Marcos residential trash and recycling customers. These fees are limited to 5 passenger tires, 1 television, 2 computer monitors, 2 freon bearing appliances, and 2 items either mattresses or box springs per calendar year. A City of San Marcos Utility Bill that reflects the “Recycle Center Services” must be presented to staff during our hours of operation, and must be in the name of the individual presenting material for recycling.
