Bulk Items and fees

Tires

Most car and light truck tires are considered Passenger Tires and are accepted for a $5 fee. Some trailer and large truck tires are considered Semi Truck Tires and are accepted for a $15 fee. The fee for up to 5 passenger tires may be waived per calendar year for San Marcos residents who pay for recycling services through their City of San Marcos Utility Bill. This bill must reflect the “Recycle Center Services” charge and be presented during our hours of operation.

Tires must be presented to staff during our hours of operation.

TVs and Monitors

All TVs and monitors are accepted for a $0.35/lb fee. The fee for one TV and two monitors may be waived per calendar year for San Marcos residents who pay for recycling services through their City of San Marcos Utility Bill. This bill must reflect the “Recycle Center Services” charge and be presented during our hours of operation.

TVs and monitors must be presented to staff during our hours of operation.

Freon Bearing Appliances

Large freon bearing appliances such as full size refrigerators, central air conditioners, and deep freezers are accepted for a $10 fee. Small freon bearing appliances such as window unit air conditioners and mini-fridges are accepted for a $5 fee. This fee is necessary for our EPA certified technician to responsibly recover the refrigerant that is harmful to our environment. Fees are waived for San Marcos residents who pay for recycling services through their City of San Marcos Utility Bill. This bill must reflect the “Recycle Center Services” charge and be presented during our hours of operation. Fees are also waived for donated appliances.

Mattresses and Box Springs

Green Guy now recycles mattresses and box springs, each for a $30 fee. This fee may be waived for San Marcos residents who pay for recycling services through their City of San Marcos Utility Bill. This bill must reflect the “Recycle Center Services” charge and be presented during our hours of operation.

Mattresses and box springs must be presented to staff during our hours of operation.

Oil Filters

Oil filters are accepted in our drop off center for a fee of $0.50 each. These may be deposited in the Oil Filter drum, located near the Used Oil containers.

Citizens' Collection Station

Green Guy accepts residential bulky waste such as furniture, mirrors, surplus home renovation materials, brush, playscapes, and other miscellaneous items that are difficult to dispose of due to their size. The fee for these items is $150/ton with a minimum charge of $10. Household garbage and putrescible waste is not accepted. This service is only available to residential customers, commercial or industrial waste is not accepted.

Bulky waste must be presented to staff during our hours of operation.
